An official closing and/or cancellation of classes may occur due to severe weather conditions (see our 天气安全 page), non-functioning of university mechanical systems, or other unforeseen circumstances. During official closings, scheduled in-person classes and special events are canceled; all university offices are closed; and official university operations cease, though specific exceptions may be authorized as directed by appropriate university officials.

DO NOT call the OUPD or switchboard to ask if classes are canceled. OUPD communications personnel are expected to be available to receive communications of an emergency nature.

When 韦德体育app官网 is officially closed or classes canceled, synchronous online classes or synchronous online events in classes — those which require online presence at an established time such as a planned discussion, will be addressed on a case-by-case basis by the responsible 教师 member or appropriate academic department or unit. Asynchronous online classes and asynchronous online events in classes — those for which there is no set meeting time — are not subject to cancellation when 韦德体育app官网 is closed.
Macomb County Locations
During Emergency Closings and Cancellation of Classes, 韦德体育app官网 classes at the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) or Macomb University Center (MUC) will also be canceled. If Macomb Community College is closed, 韦德体育app官网 classes at the MUC will be canceled. If the MISD is closed, 韦德体育app官网 classes at the MISD will be canceled.
Other Off-Site Locations
During Emergency Closings and Cancellation of Classes, off-site locations will close or cancel classes only if the school district in which the off-site locations resides has closed or canceled classes. The University school closing hotline, (248) 370-2000, will contain information regarding off-site locations.
